What is ClipSync?
ClipSync is a lightweight, real-time shared clipboard that lets you send text, images, and files between devices.
Create or join a room using a room code, then share items between your phone, laptop, desktop, or tablet — instantly and across operating systems.
Is ClipSync free?
Yes. ClipSync is completely free to use.
There are no accounts, subscriptions, or premium tiers.
Do I need to create an account?
No. ClipSync does not require any account or sign-up.
You only need a room code to start sharing between your devices.
Getting Started
How do I get started?
- Open the ClipSync app
- A room code will be generated automatically (or enter your own)
- Open ClipSync on another device
- Enter the same room code
- Start sharing text or files
You can also use the QR code to join a room on mobile.
How do I join an existing room?
- Open ClipSync
- Enter the room code
- Click Join
- You’ll see the items shared in that room
Make sure all devices use the exact same room code.
Can I create my own room code?
Yes. You can choose your own room code:
- 6–30 characters
- Letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores
- All devices must use the exact same code
Choose something hard to guess if you want more privacy.
Data & Privacy
How long is data stored?
Shared items are stored for up to 24 hours and then automatically deleted from the server.
Devices do not need to be online at the same time — items remain available for the full 24 hours period.
Is my data secure?
ClipSync uses WebSocket connections (HTTPS/WSS when available) to transmit data securely.
However, ClipSync is designed for convenience — not for secure storage of sensitive data.
Do not share confidential or personal information.
Who can see my shared items?
Only devices that join the same room using the correct room code can see your shared items.
Anyone with the room code can access that room, so treat room codes like a private link.
Can you see my clipboard content?
ClipSync does not track users or read clipboard data for analytics or advertising.
Shared content is stored temporarily to provide the service and is automatically deleted after 24 hours.

What can I share?
You can share:
- Text (up to 30,000 characters per item)
- Images and files (up to 25 MB per file)
What are the limits?
- Maximum 30 items per room (text + files)
- Maximum 5 files per room
- Maximum 25 MB per file
- Maximum 30,000 characters per text item
- Items are stored for 24 hours

What happens when I reach a limit?
- Items: Oldest item is removed when adding a new one
- Files: Oldest file is removed when uploading a new file
- File size: Files over 25 MB are rejected
- Text length: Messages over 30,000 characters cannot be sent
Technical
Does ClipSync work on mobile?
Yes. ClipSync works on any modern device with a web browser, including phones and tablets.
Can I use ClipSync offline?
No. ClipSync requires an internet connection to sync between devices.
However, devices do not need to be online at the same time — items remain available for 24 hours.
Is there a native app?
ClipSync is currently a web app.
You can bookmark it or add it to your home screen for quick access.
Troubleshooting
Why can’t I connect to a room?
- Make sure the room code is typed correctly
- Check your internet connection
- Try refreshing the page
- The room may have expired (items are deleted after 24 hours)
Why am I the only one connected?
That’s normal if you’ve only joined from one device.
Open ClipSync on another device and enter the same room code to see real-time syncing.
Why did my items disappear?
Items are automatically deleted after 24 hours.
Items may also be removed earlier if room limits are exceeded.
ClipSync is for temporary sharing only — not long-term storage.
Why is the file size limited?
Limits help keep ClipSync fast and reliable for everyone.
Large files can slow down syncing and overload the service.
